An opportunity has arisen for a full time, permanent position as a Skills for Life and PSHE Teacher .

Purpose:

• To deliver Skills for life to learners at entry level one, two and three.
• To teach on some personal and social education courses when required.
• To progress learners through courses and contribute to the targets of the department.
• To comply with safe working practices in relation to health and safety legislation and the rules of the department.

Main Duties:

• The teaching, delivery and assessment of entry level courses in numeracy and literacy.
• The ability to deliver short courses in personal and social education, and continuously assess learner’s progress.
• To ensure that resources available are effectively managed and deployed effectively.
• To maintain education records and review all students.
• To maintain prisoner records as required.
• To assist in the promotion, recruitment and advertising of course throughout the prison.
• To participate in staff development.
• To attend and contribute to regular team meetings.

Essential requirements:

• Ability to assess and teach Skills for Life and some PSHE course
• To develop equal opportunities in all learning material
• A recognised teaching qualification
• Teaching experience
• To communicate effectively and give support to a wide range of learners.
