Job Description:

Kalyx has a long-term Home Office Contract to manage HMP Forest Bank in Salford, which holds 1160 adult males. Due to our expansion programme we are scheduled to become one of the largest local prisons in the country. We Offer job Opportunities for you to help us serve our community by:

We a have a vacancy for full time, permanent Teacher. Key responsibilities are to teach the skills for life numeracry, basic finance and assisting with the provision of information by providing advice and guidance for learners.

Main duties

  • To deliver numeracy to learners at level one and two.
  • To deliver a course in budgeting and money management to learners who are near to release and to provide some advice on managing personal finances.
  • To spend part of the day interviewing
  • The teaching delivery and assessment of level one and two courses in numeracy and literacy.
  • The ability to deliver short courses in budgeting and money management, and continuously assess learner’s progress.
  • To assist in giving information, advice and guidance to prisoners on entering the prison and signposting them to courses that best meet their needs.
  • To ensure that resources available are effectively managed and deployed effectively.
  • To maintain education records and review all students.
  • To maintain prisoner records as required.
  • To assist in the promotion, recruitment and advertising of courses throughout the prison.
  • To participate in staff development.
  • To attend and contribute to regular team meetings.

Requirements

  • Ability to assess and teach Skills for Life and some PSHE courses.
  • Awareness of external accreditation.
  • To work independently and as a member as a team.
  • To communicate effectively and give support to a wide range of learners.
  • To be able to communicate with colleagues, people from agencies and people from prisons in an appropriate manner.
  • To develop equal opportunities in all leaning materials.
  • Ability to carry out organizational and administrative tasks effectively and to maintain registers and student records.
  • Ability to mentor and assist other staff.
  • To be able to purchases resources that are appropriate to Skills for Life and PSHE courses.
